The Creole, considered one of the most beautiful sailing boats of the world, of 65 metres length; The Moonbeam IV, where Rainiero de Monaco and Grace Kelly enjoyed their honeymoon; or the Malabar X, one of the most important yachts in the leisure design history, are some of the most exclusive yachts that are still alive and are going to unfurl their sails on the sea of Barcelona.
Accord with the Meteorological Service of Catalonia
Thanks to the prestige and recognition that the regatta has been gaining throughout their four previous editions, this year has achieved to count on with the collaboration of the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, which very morning will offer the climate advisement at the Barcelona Royal Yacht Club. On July 12th morning a briefing will be offered to the participating boat skippers with detailed information around the wind evolution for each of the three days that the boat race lasts. On the other hand, before going to sail, the owners, the skippers and all the crew will receive a daily detailed meteorological report. In addition, on the official website (www.meteo.cat) will be available information that will offer, in real time, the detailed foresights, hour by hour, in the specific area where the competition will be competed.
For the first time, this year, all the regatta participants will receive a commemorative medal to fasten on their boats deck as souvenir of their participation on the 5th Puig Vela Clàssica edition. It is a small token of gratitude and recognition for all the owners, skippers and crew who – thanks to their wonderful boats, their effort, and the excellent teamwork carried out– make that the Puig Vela Clàssica betters itself edition after edition.
Un espectáculo en movimiento en el corazón del Mediterráneo
At the regatta’s presentation ceremony, held the last 3th of July in the council, Marc Puig highlighted the invaluable contribution of the sea to Barcelona and assured that “it is about an spectacle in motion that into an international reference for sailing around the world”. There is no other city in the world that hosts a classic yacht regatta like the race held each year in Barcelona.
AMoreover, one of the Puig Vela Clàssica particularities and one of the reasons why they make it extraordinary, is that occurs in the Barcelona’s heart: at 5 minutes from La Sagrada Familia, at 10 minutes from Barrio Gótico and a step from the best and most exclusives restaurants of the city. Something that any other Mediterranean capital can offer to their regattas.
